Old Style V - Passage to Pono
"Most locals possess an aumakua, or ancestral guardian spirit such as a shark, turtle or lizard. However, Lono, one of Molokai's most celebrated musicians, sings his own tune when it comes to aumakua: instead of an animal spirit, Lono gives reverence to the famed musicians who defined old-style Hawaiian music." - The Molokai Dispatch

Style IV - Great Moloka'i, child of the Goddess
Hina
Lonomusic
now brings to you Old Style IV, Great Molokai,
child of the Goddess Hina. With the guidance of
Akua, na aumakua, na kupuna, our inspirations
and the friendly people of Molokai, lonomusic
shares with you their mana'o. This music is full
of the ancient legends, myths, stories, tributes
and everyday life. Lonomusic continues to perpetuate
the
"folk music" of Hawaii in the traditional
tones of old Hawaii, mindful of John Almeida,
Aunty Genoa Keawe, Gabby Pahinui, Atta Isaacs,
Moe Keale, Joe Gang Kupahu, Izrael Kamakawiwo'ole,
Eddie Kamae, Keola Beamer.
This
is original music from Molokai!
You cannot find it anywhere else.

Style III - Imua Kakou
This
cd is a Moloka'i original. All the songs were
written by lonomusic except for tracks 4 and 15
which are traditional. From the first song "E
Hele Pohaku" throughout the cd to "Oli
E" it is packed with the writings of Moloka'i.
(words and translations are included) Songs about
the myths, legends, places and people of Moloka'i.
The cd is packed with what is known throughout
these islands as "Mana".
Lono
plays all the instruments and sings all the songs.
There is one track that is about the soverign
land located on the island of 'Oahu (Nu'uanu)
where the Hawaiian royalty rest. An honorary song
to William "Kaihe'ekai Maioho" who's
family has been intrusted with the caring of the
Hawaiian monarch. Another track to "Nanahoa"
or the "Phallic Rock" titled Botonui"
located at the Kalaupapa lookout. The music is
friendly and characteristic. It is the folk music
of Hawai'i truely being continued for the past
generations and the future generations.

Style II
You
will enjoy the music of yesteryear with Lono’s
style of today. The first track, a symphony of
conch, is a ceremonial welcome or invitation to
come and listen. Much of the musics’ melodies
are kept as they were written. Lono’s includes
his own signature style on Ana Pau La and Holoholo
Ka’a. Hola 'e pae, a song recorded by Aunty
Genoa Keawe, is introduced as never been done
before. I’d Climb the Highest Mountain is
an old time favorite that has rekindled the memories
of all the kupuna in their youth. Ukulele, Lono's
original, features a young man, Kaihoku Lee-Tolentino,
Kui Lee's grandson. In Kila Kila Na Rougrider,
Lono again shares his version in vocals and ukulele
skills on his 8 string Kamaka Ukulele. Enjoy!

Tribute
to the "Folk music of Hawaii". With
the blessings of our Kupuna we have not forgotten
those who's music have been push to the side on
our local airways. They are the fans of this music.
There is no jawaiian or contemporary music. It
is "Traditional Hawaiian Music". Back
to the old style music. A thank you to Steve Siegfried
and his cast of contemporaries who brought this
music to us years ago. From the pages of "The
Sons Of Hawaii", Gabby, Moe Keale, Sonny
Chillingworth, Joe gang, Atta Isaacs, Eddie Kamae,
etc." (Since we're giving names... Skippy,
Israel and Dennis.)
